Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin by Ingri & Edgar Parin d'Aulaire is a charming visit with one of Pennsylvania's most famous persons.
Franklin's life is described in detail from a the youngest child in a large family in Boston, his years as a printer, the inventions and discoveries that made him famous, and his contribution to the newly formed United States of America.
Illustrations can make or break a book to me and this one wins top honors. The stone lithographs for which the d'Aulaires are famous make this an attractive picture book able to hold my attention as well as my children. On each page is one of the wise sayings known as Poor Richard's proverbs printed in Franklin's almanac.
For an introduction to Benjamin Franklin, this is one book that won't disappoint.
