Hostage on the Nighthawk

Have a reluctant reader that you want to introduce to Pennsylvania's founder?

Hostage on the Nighthawk: William Penn (Trailblazer Books #32)

Hostage on the Nighthawk is an easy to read adventure story that will quickly capture the imagination. Personally I consider escaping a pirate ship with a chest full of gold rather unbelievable but I could see a young person devouring the fast pace action.

Hostage on the Nighthawk is on of the Trailblazer books by Dave and Neta Jackson. The authors include notes in the front and the back of the book to help distinguish the truth from the fiction and give further details on the historical characters.

The setting is William Penn's second visit to the colony in 1699. The book visits some of the problems besetting the "Holy Experiment" including pirates, slavery and the sinfulness of man's heart. It would be a great way to begin an study on William Penn and the founding of Pennsylvania.
